St. Mark Ministry Action Teams (MATs) meet at church on the third Thursday evening of each month. Team members are elected for a two-year term by the Voters' Assembly.
Spirital Life
The Spiritual Life MAT (SLMAT) assists the pastors in looking after the spiritual welfare of the congreation and its individual members. It seeks to nurture members and others through uplifting worship and spiritual life faithful to God's Word.
SLMAT team members engage in a continual review of the congregation's worship and communion attendance and assist the pastors in providing encouragement to infrequent attendees through telephone calls, visits, notes, and prayers.
They counsel and advise the pastors when necessary or as requested in matters affecting spiritual ministries and discipline within the congregation according to Scripture. The SLMAT also establishes and administers compensation and benefits standards for the pastors and administrative staff.
Christian Education
The Christian Education MAT (CEMAT) directs many education opportunities for people of all ages at St. Mark, including Sunday School, Bible classes, and Vacation Bible School.
The CEMAT is instrumental in organizing the various Bible study offerings and publicizing them to the congregation. Board members oversee the Preschool at St. Mark and offer scholarships to those preparing for full-time church work.
Church Properties
The activities and responsibilities of the Church Properties MAT (CPMAT) consist of legal matters, insurance, contracts, church use policies, inventory of church properties, building key control, custodial service, church grounds, building maintenance, and capital improvements.
Public Relations
The Public Relations MAT (PRMAT) presents a Christian image to the public which reflects favorably upon the work of Christ and of the St. Mark congregation as His instrument. Its responsibility is to publicize the work of the congregation through the news media and other channels. Carrying out this responsibility requires working closely with the pastors, church officers, and other teams.
Outreach
The primary purpose of the Outreach MAT (OMAT) h is to focus on the internal and external growth of the church. Members of the team, assisted by members of the congreation, make calls on prospective members and new people in the neighborhood to inform them of the many activities which take place at St. Mark and invite them to worship with us. In conjunction with the PRMAT, the Outreach team promotes St. Mark's programs to the Omaha community.
The OMAT sponsors witnessing programs at various times to encourage and teach members of the congregation ways in which they can witness to each other and to those who do not know Jesus as their Savior.
If you are interested in talking with prospective members, visitors, and new neighbors to invite them to worship, please contact a team member.
Fellowship
The Fellowship MAT (MAT) sponsors many different social activities to involve members of the congregation in Christian fellowship.
The team, with the help of members of the congregation, servers congregational dinners, including meals before Voters' Meetings, Advent & Lenten services, the annual Rally Day picnic, and several other congregational gatherings.
The team is also involved in sponsoring various Sports activities.
Stewardship
The basic objective of the Stewardship (SMAT) is to initiate programs to develop good stewardship attitudes among the members of the congregation in regards to the use of their time, talents (abilities), and treasures (material resources).
The team seeks to promote the Biblical model of stewardship as a gracious response to all that God has done for us. This is accomplished together as we seek to manage all the gifts God has entrusted to us.
The team also provides for the training and utilization of members of the congregation for the work of Christ's kingdom and to ensure the financial stability of the congregation and its work through a developed program of dedicated, proprtionate, first-fruits giving.
Youth
The Youth MAT (YMAT) is designed to oversee the entire youth program and to provide opportunities for youth to be involved in ministry based on the following five areas: spiritual growth, worship, witness, recreation, fellowship, and mission outreach.
The team's responsibilities include planning the long-term goals of the Jr. Youth (grades 6-8) and the Sr. Youth (grades 9-12). One of these goals is to provide opportunities for adults to be involved in youth ministry through the training and implementation of Youth Counselors.
